Flint ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Flint collects only what is necessary to provide the service. This includes your account email, usage data (recording counts, credit balance), and the text transcriptions and summaries generated from your recordings. Audio recordings are processed on your device or sent to a third-party transcription provider and are never stored on our servers.
We use your information to operate and improve Flint — specifically to process transcriptions, generate summaries, manage your credit balance, and provide customer support. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
By default, audio recordings are stored locally on your device. Only the text content (transcription and summary) is transmitted to our servers for cloud features. You can switch to fully on-device mode in settings, in which case no audio or text leaves your device.
Flint uses Deepgram for cloud transcription and OpenAI or Anthropic for AI summarization. When you use cloud features, your transcribed text is sent to these providers under their respective privacy policies. Pro users who bring their own API keys interact directly with these providers.
Your notes and account data are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete individual notes or your entire account at any time from the app settings. Deleted data is purged from our systems within 30 days.
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only. We do not store payment information — all payments are handled by Apple or Google through their respective in-app purchase systems.
Flint is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of Flint after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
