Flint ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Flint collects only what is necessary to provide the service. We do not ask for or collect your email address, name, or phone number, and there is no account to sign up for. What we hold is a random device identifier generated on first launch, plus the usage counters tied to it: recording counts and your credit balance. We have no way to connect that identifier to your real-world identity.
Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored on your device, not on our servers. When you use a cloud feature, the audio or text is passed through our servers to the transcription or AI provider and returned to you. It is held in memory for the duration of that request and discarded when the response is sent. We keep no copy, and we do not log the contents of your notes.
We use the device identifier and usage counters to operate Flint: to process transcriptions, generate summaries, manage your credit balance, and provide customer support. We also record anonymous product analytics, such as how long recordings are and how often features are used. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
By default, audio recordings are stored locally on your device and never leave it unless you use a cloud feature. You can switch to fully on-device mode in settings, in which case no audio or text leaves your device at all.
Flint uses Deepgram for cloud transcription and OpenAI or Anthropic for AI summarization. When you use cloud features, your audio or transcribed text is sent to these providers under their respective privacy policies. Pro users who bring their own API keys interact directly with these providers, and that traffic does not pass through us.
When you share a note by link, the app encrypts it on your device before upload. We store only the encrypted blob; we never receive the PIN and cannot read the contents. Shared notes are automatically deleted 14 days after they are created, and you can delete a share sooner from the app.
Because your notes live on your device, deleting a note in the app deletes it. On our side we retain only the device identifier and its usage counters, for as long as the app remains installed and in use. Shared links expire after 14 days. To have your device identifier and counters erased, contact us at the address below or reinstall the app, which issues a new identifier.
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS). Shared notes are encrypted on your device before they reach us. Access to our systems is restricted to authorized personnel only. We do not store payment information; all payments are handled by Apple or Google through their respective in-app purchase systems.
Flint is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app. Continued use of Flint after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
