Working with a note

Edit, tweak, name speakers, read images, and follow up on suggestions.

Every note has two tabs: Note, the write-up, and Transcript, what you actually said. Both are editable, and so is the title.

Editing

  • Title: tap to rename. Flint generates one, but yours wins.
  • Note: edit the formatted text directly.
  • Transcript: fix a misheard word or name.

Tweak

Tweak gives a note a one-off instruction without touching your format:

  • "Make this shorter and drop the pleasantries."
  • "Turn the second half into a checklist."
  • "Rewrite this as an email to my landlord."

Tweak works on the transcript too, which is handy for stripping filler words before reformatting.

Speakers

For recordings with more than one voice:

  • Detect speakers: Flint separates the voices it hears.
  • Speakers count: tell it how many people to expect, for better separation.
  • Rename: tap a speaker label to give it a real name, applied through the whole transcript.

Notes with several voices show a speaker count, and can be filtered for on the home screen.

Audio

Every note keeps its original recording. Play it back inside the note, scrub with the waveform, or save the file on its own with Download Audio.

Images

Pictures you attached while recording, or added afterwards, appear in a gallery in the note. Their text is read and folded into the note content, so a photographed slide is searchable like anything else.

Suggestions

Flint proposes follow-ups for a note: things worth doing, checking, or looking up. Tap one to expand it. Some can be researched further, and the result streams in underneath.

The note menu

The menu in the top right holds:

  • Publish: a shareable link, covered in Sharing and exporting
  • Export: PDF, Markdown, or Zip
  • Send to app: hand the note to another app
  • Download Audio
  • Delete: goes to Recently Deleted, not straight to the void

Weather background

Turn on Settings → Show Weather as Background and notes get a gradient reflecting the weather when they were recorded, with the temperature on the note card. Choose °C or °F in the same setting.
