Troubleshooting

Inaccurate transcripts, missing keys, cut-off recordings, lost purchases.

The transcription is inaccurate

Almost always the processing mode. Your phone's built-in speech engine is much weaker than cloud transcription, especially with accents, background noise, or several people talking.

Try these in order:

  1. Switch Settings → Processing Mode to Credits Pack.
  2. Set the input language explicitly instead of leaving it on Auto.
  3. Add the words it keeps missing to Settings → Key Terms.
  4. For recordings with several voices, turn on Multiple speakers or use the Meeting format.

"Note Generation Unavailable"

You are in Cloud mode with no AI provider key set. Add an OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini key under Settings → API Keys, or switch Processing Mode back to Credits Pack.

"Incorrect API key provided"

A key is missing or wrong for the job it is doing. Open Settings → API Keys and check which provider is marked for note generation and which for transcription. A transcription-only key cannot write notes.

I ran out of credits

Switch to On my phone, which is free and unlimited, or buy a Credits Pack. On-device transcription is less accurate, but nothing stops working.

The recording stopped early

Recording can be interrupted when Flint sits in the background or your phone stays locked for a long stretch. For long sessions, keep the app in the foreground.

If a recording was cut off, Flint tries to recover the audio the next time you open the app. Recovered notes are marked with a Recovered badge.

A note has a "Recovered" badge

Its recording was interrupted and Flint rescued the audio. Check the end of the transcript, where the last few seconds are the most likely to be missing.

Audio playback looks wrong on Android

The playback waveform is known to be unreliable on Android. The audio itself is fine, and export and download are unaffected.

My shared link stopped working

Published links expire after 14 days. Open the note and publish it again for a fresh link.

I lost my notes after reinstalling

Notes live on the device, not on a server, so uninstalling removes them and there is no backup to restore from. Export anything you want to keep as PDF, Markdown, or Zip before removing the app.

My purchase did not carry over

Open the upgrade screen from Settings and tap Restore Purchase. If it is credits that are missing rather than a plan, get in touch. Credits are tied to your device's anonymous ID rather than your store account.

Still stuck

Settings → Contact us. You can attach a screenshot, which usually saves a round trip.
