What stays on your phone, what leaves it, and when.
The short version: your notes are on your phone, and how much leaves it is your choice.

What stays on your phone
- Your notes, transcripts, and titles
- Your audio recordings
- Your chat history
- Your images
- Your search index
None of it is stored on a Flint server. There is no account to log into and no dashboard where anyone can read your notes.
What leaves your phone, and when

Chat also sends the relevant note text to the AI provider when you ask a question.
If you want nothing to leave the device at all: set Processing Mode to On my phone, and skip chat.
Location
Only used if you turn on the weather background. Your phone does the lookup itself. Flint's servers never receive your location.
Published notes
Publishing uploads the text of a note (never the audio), encrypted and gated behind a code. Links expire after 14 days, and generating a new code invalidates the old link.
No account, on purpose
Flint identifies you by an anonymous ID generated on your phone. That is enough to track your credits and not enough to identify you.
We would rather be straightforward about the trade-off than oversell it: this is built for convenience first. Rate limits keep abuse in check, but we are not going to claim the setup is bulletproof.
Deleting things
Deleted notes go to Recently Deleted, then get cleared automatically.
Deleting the app takes your notes and audio with it. They are on the device, so there is no copy elsewhere to clean up, and nothing to restore from. Export anything you want to keep first.
